Alta Laboratories Ltd. was founded by the Late Dr. R. K. Dhote in the year 1946 and is the flagship company of the Alta Group. The enterprising vision of Dr. Dhote created one of India's first homegrown chemical manufacturing units catering to the millions of people that needed access to basic medicines.

Initially Alta Laboratories was involved in manufacturing patent drugs that attained considerable popularity and wide patronage of the medical world. Alta's success in manufacturing basic chemicals aroused the interest of M/s.Monsanto Chemicals Ltd., U.K. and in 1959 we entered into a collaboration with M/s.Monsanto which lasted till 1968.

In the 1950's we also started manufacturing Sodium Salicylate, Salicylic Acid and Aspirin. We are now pioneers in the manufacture of Salicylic Acid, its derivatives and Para Hydroxy Benzoic Acid and its Easters. The products manufactured by us are of high quality and are well received in the international market.
 
Our clientele comprises of a wide array of local and international corporations that use our products in Pharmaceuticals, Agro chemicals, Perfumery chemicals, Resins, Rubber Dyes and Cosmetic Industries etc. Alta Laboratories has continued to grow since the early days of its inception. We persevere to provide high quality APIs and fine chemicals and innovate through extensive R&D processes that will eventually benifit the final consumer.
